To All The Boys: Always and Forever is a charming conclusion to a sweet high school trilogy that will leave you with a smile on your face.
Read MoreThe Little Things Review
There’s no doubt that The Little Things had a ton of potential. Three Oscar winners starring in a mystery thriller sounds like a success to me. Unfortunately, its dull script and jumbled editing make for a disappointment. (And those are big things.)
Read MoreMalcolm & Marie Review
Malcolm & Marie’s lead performances and top-notch cinematography can’t save the film from the repetitive and messy script that brings the whole movie down.
Read MoreJasper Mall Review
In a world upended by a pandemic, the future of malls is more uncertain than ever. It’s a sad truth for those of us who long for the simplicity of an afternoon at the mall. Jasper Mall is a fascinating documentary exploring the ups and downs of a community that cling to their deteriorating local mall while online shopping sends it hurdling into obscurity.
Read MoreSoul Review
Soul boasts beautiful animation and a talented voice cast. Yet, I walk away from another Pixar film feeling a bit tired of being fed the same formula over and over again.
Read MorePromising Young Woman Review
There are aspects of Promising Young Woman that I loved and others that I hated. It’s got tonal shifts that will make your head spin. This is a stylistically impressive film with a fantastic lead performance. But I simply can’t ignore such an unnecessarily toxic ending.

It’s a technical marvel from cinematography to sound design. Gary Oldman and Amanda Seyfried stand out with excellent performances in a behind the scenes look at the writing of Citizen Kane.
Read MoreDear Santa Review
The USPS Operation Santa program highlights the importance of giving through the Christmas season. It’s moving to see workers, volunteers, and families spend their time helping others to bring joy from “Santa” on Christmas. Dear Santa is an effective documentary that’s perfect for watching this holiday season.
Read MoreHillbilly Elegy Review: A Mediocre Terminator
As I said, I don’t think this is the “worst movie of the year,” like many have said. (Trust me, there are many others in the running for that title.) However, I think it’s very messy. Jolting flashbacks and frequent traumatic sequences make for a convoluted narrative structure to manipulate the viewer emotionally. Hillbilly Elegy has an impressive performance from Glenn Close, but it could use a good terminator to come in and make some changes.
Read MoreRun Review
This is a story that’s themes have been explored a lot in recent media. Although Run is familiar and a bit predictable, it remains an effective thriller that will keep you entertained.
