The major takeaway from this list is how strikingly similar it is to The National Board of Review’s Top Films list released just last week. I’m genuinely surprised A Quiet Place and Black Panther find themselves in awards contention. They’re decent films, but I can think of several others that deserve their slots. (Mission: Impossible- Fallout, Tully, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, First Man) Oh well, it’s not my list. It’s the AFI Honorees’ world and we’re just living in it.
